The Yakima County Democratic Party needs you.
The lifeblood of our organization comes from the ranks of volunteers.
Highest on the list are the men and women who file and campaign for election to public office at the city, county or school board level, for the State Legislature or for Congress. These are the brightest blue volunteers.
Candidates, however, can't run effective campaigns without a team of willing, dedicated folks helping with the doorbelling, phone-banking, sign posting, mailing and fundraising that contribute to victory on election day.
The County Party, too, relies on volunteers - for lots of tasks - the most importance of which is serving as a Precinct Committee Officer.
These are the men and women willing to take charge of a neighborhood, they live in. By canvassing voters on lists the Party will provide, PCOs spread the Democratic message to swing or independent voters whose turnout usually determines the outcome of elections.
Other activities for volunteers include:
- Staffing the Party booth during the annual 10-day Central Washington Fair
- The annual FDR Dinner Committee
- Serving coffee and snacks at the Indian John Hill Rest Stop where donations by travelers boost club treasuries
- Attending State and District meetings and conventions
- Being an officer in any of the six committees and clubs that make up the Yakima County Party.
Volunteers, who can be as active as they want, will find their efforts to be socially rewarding. They will be alongside people of a like political mind - working together to advance the goals of the Democratic Party. - PG
