The 4th Congressional District
Geographically, the 4th CD comprises the heart of Central Washington stretching from the Columbia River on the south to nearly the Canadian border on the north and the Cascade Mountain Range on the west.
The district includes all of Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Kittitas, Yakima, Benton, Franklin and Klickitat counties and small portions of Adams and Skamania counties.
Yakima, the Tri-Cities and Wenatchee are the largest urban centers in the district made famous by Grand Coulee dam, a series of other power-generating dams along the Columbia River and the U.S. Department of Energy.s Hanford Site.
Irrigated agriculture is the district.s basic industry producing much of the nation's apple crop along with cherries, wine grapes and soft fruit. Potatoes, wheat, hay, mint and asparagus are other major crops while beef production is another significant industry in this far-flung, rural region.
